The case of UAH 4 million at the “Start” camp has been disrupted again: who is holding up the court in Lviv

The court hearing in the case of the alleged embezzlement of almost 4 million hryvnias during the renovation of the Start children’s camp in Lviv has once again been postponed. The hearing in the Frankivsk District Court was again postponed – this time due to the absence of the participants in the trial.

It is a criminal proceeding involving education officials and contractors who are associated with Andriy Sadovyi’s environment.

In a commentary to the Korol Danylo media outlet, lawyer Andriy Petryshyn noted that the case concerns the use of budget funds allocated for the repair of the camp. According to the investigation, some of the work could have been performed only formally, and the money could have been misused.

Petryshyn emphasizes that these are funds that were supposed to go to children, and the situation looks especially cynical in the context of war.

At the same time, he draws attention to the systematic disruption of court hearings. According to him, this practice is typical for cases involving city council officials.

This time, according to his information, a representative of the injured party, the Lviv City Council, who was supposed to represent the interests of the community, did not appear in court.

Petryshyn suggests that the delay in the process may be due to an attempt to wait for the expiration of the time limit for bringing to criminal responsibility.

In response to this, representatives of the NGO Audit Lviv initiated a petition for online broadcasting of the trial. In their opinion, publicity can significantly reduce the number of procedural abuses.
