A scandalous trial against the former head of the Department of Ecology, Oleksandra Sladkova, who was transferred to the Department of Economic Development by the mayor of Lviv despite having criminal cases, is unfolding in the Galician court.
On January 22, Svitlana Movchan, the chief auditor of the Western Office of the State Audit Service, gave contradictory testimony that raises serious doubts about the objectivity of the audit of financial irregularities at the city hall. She not only denied the obvious facts, but also demonstrated a blatant misunderstanding of the basic principles of labor law. This was reported by Leopolis.news.
It is noteworthy that, having discovered the embezzlement of more than 4 million budget hryvnias in the Department of Ecology, the auditor “did not notice” gross violations when dismissing the employee. This raises the question of possible pressure on the part of Sadovyi’s team on the controlling authorities.
It is noteworthy that Movchan had previously openly recognized the specifics of Sladkova’s behavior, but in court she suddenly “forgot” about her words. Such selectivity of the state auditor’s memory may indicate an attempt to shield the suspected city hall official.
Sladkova, who is being tried in two criminal cases at once – forgery and the destruction of Lviv lakes – continues to enjoy Sadovyi’s patronage. Instead of suspending her for the duration of the investigation, the mayor brought her closer to him by transferring her to a key economic department.
The trial is nearing its end, but it is already clear that Sadovyi’s team is trying to whitewash their subordinate by all means, even at the cost of discrediting the trial through dubious witness testimony.
