Another fire in Lviv linked to Mayor Sadovyi
February 17, 2024In his video message, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi expressed his plans to improve the condition of roads and restore pavement in the city. He noted that no major road repairs are expected this year, as the funds intended for this purpose will be used for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Sadovyi said that 1 billion hryvnias had already been reserved for these needs and that purchases of drones and anti-drone equipment for the Armed Forces were regularly made.
The mayor of Lviv noted that pothole repairs are planned after weather conditions stabilize. He also noted that 25,000 pieces of paving stones in the city’s warehouses are waiting for “better times” to be used. Sadovyi emphasized that the problems with uneven pavement will be solved without budgetary costs, and instead will use grant funds that cannot be directed to the Armed Forces but can finance specific projects such as this one.
Earlier, Mayor Sadovyi said that the paving stones from Shevchenko, Bandera, Pekarska, and other streets in Lviv were counted and kept under protection, and would be reused later.
Why did Mayor Sadovyi decide to abandon the budgeting of major road repairs in Lviv in 2024?
There may be two reasons for this: the first is public pressure, which the head of the Lviv City Hall rarely takes into account. The second reason is the announcement by the head of the State Audit Service, Alla Basalaeva, of a planned audit of Lviv City Hall. We’ll see what happens in the future.
