The State Bureau of Investigation is demanded to open proceedings against Lviv Mayor Sadovyi for paying millions in bonuses

Lviv City Council deputy Oleksiy Riznyk and the editorial board of the Vgolos news agency demand that the State Bureau of Investigation open a criminal investigation into the payments of bonuses to his deputies by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.

The National Agency for Combating Corruption responded to a previous request from Vgolos that the monthly allocation of tens of millions of hryvnias for bonuses falls under the signs of a criminal offense that should be investigated by the relevant authority.

“The information contained in the notification concerns possible signs of criminal offenses, liability for which is provided for by the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and verification of which should be carried out in accordance with the criminal procedural legislation by the authorized bodies,” the NACP said in its response.

According to the law, the body that should conduct a pre-trial investigation against Sadovyi in this case is the State Bureau of Investigation, which identifies corrupt officials among the highest officials.

Given the circumstances, the editorial board of Vgolos and Lviv City Council member Oleksiy Riznyk, according to the NACP’s letter, sent statements to the SBI requesting the initiation of criminal proceedings.

To recap.

Investigative journalists from the Vgolos agency appealed to the NACP to check the actions of Mayor Sadovyi regarding the payment of tens of millions of hryvnias in bonuses to his deputies every month.

“We have to stop the plundering of the city of Lviv, which has been going on for 17 years of Andriy Sadovyi’s rule,” the journalists noted.
