War for some and millions for others: all roads lead to Andriy Sadovyi
May 26, 2023Will there be a dismissal?
On Thursday, May 25, during the session of the Lviv City Council, Deputy Oleksiy Riznyk addressed the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption to conduct an investigation into the activities of the mayor of Lviv regarding possible corruption offenses.
The issue revolves around systematically rewarding bonuses to deputy mayors without council decisions.
After all, the Regulations state that issuing of bonuses for deputy mayors is subject to discussion and review at the plenary session of the Council no more than once per quarter, with a mandatory hearing of the report from the respective deputy mayor and the adoption of a resolution on awarding/denial of bonuses to the respective deputy mayor.
As evidenced by documents from the Lviv City Council on bonuses for the deputy chairmen of the Lviv City Council, bonuses were granted based on the Decrees of the mayor, which were personally signed by the mayor in violation of the requirements set forth in the Regulations, which in turn led to the misappropriation of funds from the city budget.
Therefore, the deputy corps see a corrupt element in mayor’s actions and turn to the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption to conduct an investigation into the activities of the mayor of Lviv on the subject of potential corruption offenses.
It is worth recalling that a mayor in Chernihiv was recently dismissed due to corruption. The city mayor was accused of corruption for providing his wife with an official vehicle for travel abroad, and then instructing the driver to return the car. Therefore, the embezzlement of budget funds for ‘their own’ in Lviv may lead to a corruption case and the dismissal of Andriy Sadovyi from the position of Lviv Mayor.
So how much longer will Andriy Sadovyi remain at the helm of the city?!
