Double standards: a representative of the State Audit Service defends Sadovyi’s official in court?
February 2, 2025Sadovyi refuses to discuss elections in Lviv due to martial law. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi sharply rejected the question of possible elections during a conversation with Tvoje Misto. He categorically stated that martial law makes any electoral process impossible.
Despite the legal requirement to hold regular elections, Sadovyi emphasized that they are prohibited in times of war. He referred to a memorandum between the leaders of parliamentary factions that postpones the elections for at least six months after the lifting of martial law.
In a pessimistic assessment of the situation, the mayor emphasized the slim chances of holding elections this year due to the critical situation at the front. He skeptically commented on Trump’s statements, pointing to his inconsistency in his statements on the war.
“Having lost the war with Ukraine, Russia has a chance to split into many independent countries. They are well aware of this,” Sadovyi emphasized, hinting at a prolongation of the conflict.
The mayor accused the Russian occupiers of manipulating political issues and categorically refused to discuss the election further, calling it harmful to the city and the state.
Amid the political debate, Lviv is forced to focus on more pressing issues, such as preserving cultural monuments from frontline cities and updating its outdated transport fleet with European loans.
