A former official of a Lviv utility company, who reported to Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, has been served a notice of suspicion in a case of causing damage worth more than UAH 1.7 million during the purchase of equipment for the Armed Forces. This was reported by the Lviv regional police.
According to Zaxid.net journalists, it is a former employee of the Lviv municipal enterprise Ratusha-Service, a structure that is part of the Lviv City Council’s management structure.
The investigation found that in 2023-2024, the official organized the purchase of anti-drone systems for four military units. However, he included value-added tax in the price, even though according to the law, these goods are exempt from VAT in wartime. As a result, the budget of the Lviv community suffered losses of more than UAH 1.7 million.
Law enforcers classified the official’s actions as official negligence (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction provides for up to 5 years in prison with the possibility of a ban on holding certain positions and fines.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
