According to civic activist and lawyer Andriy Petryshyn (author of the public project “Lviv Audit“), he has launched a lawsuit to register an electronic petition for the early termination of Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi’s powers.
According to Petryshyn, on March 5, 2025, he appealed to the Lviv District Administrative Court after the city council illegally refused to register his petition. The court opened proceedings on March 7.
The main reasons for going to court:
- The city council unreasonably refused to register the petition, citing internal regulations that contradict Ukrainian law
- There are numerous court decisions on the illegality of the actions of the city council under Sadovyi’s leadership
- According to Petryshyn’s unofficial information, criminal proceedings have been opened against Sadovyi on suspicion of treason.
The activist argues that the petition should be registered so that citizens can exercise their right to express their will and evaluate the mayor’s performance.
