The Lviv City Council held a presentation of the 2025 budget, but Mayor Andriy Sadovyi himself ignored the discussion of the city’s main financial document. This was surprising, as the next year’s budget is called “extremely complicated” and plans to take out a loan of UAH 2 billion.
The general fund of the budget will amount to UAH 16 billion 64 million. At the same time, the city is losing significant revenues due to the withdrawal of reverse subsidies and military personal income tax, reports the VARTA party.
Natalia Shelestak, head of the Budget Commission, recognized the critical situation with finances and called for ways to save money instead of simply taking out loans: “The easiest way is to take out loans. But I believe that we can still work hard and find funds by optimizing expenditures.”
Among the key costs:
- 4.7 billion for education
- 2.7 billion for housing and utilities
- 1 billion for the resistance program
- 995 million for the maintenance of local governments
- 670 million for compensation for preferential travel
It is noteworthy that the absence of the mayor from the presentation of such an important document takes place against the backdrop of numerous scandals with the expenditure of budget funds in Lviv.
