Sadovyi spent three times his salary on business trips: details of exorbitant payments in Lviv City Hall in November
December 7, 2024Another attempt by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi and his executive committee to restrict the rights of pensioners has failed. The Lviv District Administrative Court overturned the mayor’s illegal decision to limit the number of free public transportation rides for pensioners.
The scandalous decision No. 891, signed by Andriy Sadovyi on June 28, 2024, set a limit of 60 free trips per month for old-age pensioners. As it turned out during the investigation of the Lviv Audit project, this decision directly contradicted both the Constitution of Ukraine and a government decree from 1993.
Following a lawsuit filed by a Lviv pensioner, on November 26, 2024, the court put an end to this case, recognizing the actions of Mayor Sadovyi and the executive committee as illegal. Activists of Audit Lviv claim that this is not the first time that the mayor has tried to restrict the rights of beneficiaries in order to increase paid transportation in public transport.
“We have enough information about the illegal actions of the mayor and his entourage regarding the allocation of funds for bonuses, the purchase of apartments, land plots, and abuses in the construction and repair of roads,” says Andriy Petryshyn, head of the NGO Audit Lviv.
Pensioners who suffered from Sadovyi’s illegal decision and received fines can seek legal assistance from the project’s activists. The civic activists emphasize that they will continue to expose the illegal actions of the city authorities and bring those responsible to justice.
