September 23, 2024A scandal is erupting in Lviv over a new decision of the Lviv city authorities.
The Executive Committee, headed by Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, adopted Resolution No. 891 of 28.06.2024, which sets a limit on the number of free public transport rides for old-age pensioners – no more than 60 per month.
Civil society activist and lawyer Andriy Petryshyn expressed his outrage at this decision, calling it illegal and contrary to the Constitution of Ukraine, current laws and resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to him, this decision is a direct violation of the rights of citizens.
“This is the arbitrariness of the authorities, which everyone should know about,” emphasized Petryshyn, adding that a more detailed analysis of the situation is being prepared.
The public is urged to react to these actions of the city authorities, as they could set a dangerous precedent for limiting social guarantees.
The situation has caused a significant outcry among Lviv residents and human rights activists, who are demanding that this decision be reconsidered and made compliant with the current legislation of Ukraine.
